“Best tonneau cover I’ve owned”

I’ve had soft roll-ups and a retractable cover on previous trucks. The MX4 blows them all away for actual protection and ease of use.

Installation took me 32 minutes working alone in my driveway. The instructions were clear and everything lined up perfectly on my 2022 F-150 with a 5.5′ bed.

Daily use is stupid simple—drop the tailgate, pull the latch, fold it forward. Takes maybe 5 seconds. The panels lock wherever you stop folding, so I can open just the front section for quick access.

Weather sealing is excellent. We’ve had heavy rain and snow all winter and my bed stays dry. A few drops might get through during a pressure wash, but that’s it.

The matte finish looks sharp and hides minor scratches way better than my old glossy cover. After 14 months, it still looks new.

Overall I’m very happy with my MX4. It’s held up great through two winters, looks good, and the functionality is perfect for daily use.

My only issue is water intrusion during really heavy storms. I get a few puddles in the bed corners when we have torrential rain. It’s not a lot of water, but it’s enough to be annoying if you’re hauling something that absolutely can’t get wet.

I’ve tried adjusting the panels and treating the seals with silicone spray, which helped some. But it’s still not 100% waterproof like BAKFlip claims.

That said, for normal weather it’s bone dry. And the build quality, convenience, and security are all excellent. I’d still recommend it, just don’t expect it to be submarine-tight.

The instructions walk you through every step with clear photos. I had it installed in about 35 minutes with no issues. Didn’t need to drill anything on my Tacoma—just clamp the rails and snap the cover in place.

Functionality is identical to the MX4 as far as I can tell. Opens easy, latches automatically, keeps my bed dry in normal weather.

For $150 less than the MX4, this is a smart buy if you don’t need the absolute strongest panels.

“Perfect for light-duty use”

I don’t haul heavy cargo or abuse my truck, so the G2’s lighter-duty construction is fine for my needs. It protects my groceries, camping gear, and occasional Home Depot runs just fine.

The cover looks great on my white Ram. The black powder-coat finish matches my other truck accessories perfectly.

Installation was easy even for me (first tonneau cover I’ve installed). Clear instructions, all the hardware included, no drilling required.

Weather protection is good. Haven’t had any water get through yet, though we don’t get extreme storms here in Arizona.

“Should have spent extra for MX4”

The G2 works fine, but after having it for 16 months, I wish I’d spent the extra $150 for the MX4.

If you’re on a tight budget, it’s decent. But if you can swing it, get the MX4.

“Excellent cover, but MX4 might be enough”

The F1 is an exceptional tonneau cover. Build quality is top-notch, durability is excellent, and it looks fantastic.

That said, I’m not sure the $300 premium over the MX4 is necessary for most people. Unless you’re regularly subjecting your cover to impacts or harsh conditions, the MX4 would probably serve you just fine.

The glossy finish is gorgeous but shows every fingerprint and water spot. I spend more time cleaning this cover than I expected.

No regrets about the purchase—it’s an amazing cover. But be honest about whether you actually need the extra durability the F1 provides.
